Transit fares for Western Iowa Transit, operated by Region XII Council of Governments, may increase from $5 one-way to $7 one-way in town. The inter-city fare may increase from $1.50 per mile to $1.75 per mile. The increases will be considered by the Region XII COG executive board at their meeting July 7. The fares are proposed to increase beginning Augh. 1.
“Fares last increased over a decade ago. We have tried to maintain lower fares as long as possible but fuel increase, personnel costs, and higher prices for busses, parts, and other supplies forced our hand,” COG transit director Matt Cleveland said.
